Dick Tracy? Wrist Watch Walkie Talkie? No Way! It's here!

Apple Watch Walkie Talkie Review.

In the latest update of WatchOS5 Apple introduced the walkie talkie watch app.
You will first need open the walkie talkie application on your apple watch after you update the watch to WatchOS5.

  • Once you select the app on your watch, you will need to add your friends by using the plus icon. Your friends will need to accept the invite before you can use the walkie talkie feature.

  • After having a few friends accept my invite to the walkie talkie application we tried it out and the voice quality is exactly the same as making a phone call from your watch. You do need to touch and hold your friends name to keep the conversation going and then letting go to be able to hear them communicate back.
  • Personally I would love to see the ability to locate other Apple Watch users in a specific area. For example at a music festival you could opt in to be located by other people in your area based on your Apple Watches gps location. This would give you the ability to speak with new people make new friends and communicate with people local to your vicinity.
  • Final thought: The application works well, however there's room for improvement and the ability to add some unique and interesting features. I'd like to see the Apple walkie talkie application be added to Ipad, Mac, and allow you to communicate with other devices in the house or family members at another location. I could see this application being useful to turn an older Apple device into an intercom system.
